Killing The Lies: Should Everyone Be Forgiven Without Exception?

Welcome to the second entry in my blog series about forgiveness. I recommend starting at the beginning for context, so if you haven’t already, check out the debut entry to this series: The Top 10 Most Prevalent Lies About Forgiveness. WHO SHOULD BE FORGIVEN & WHO SHOULD NOT? In the example of Matthew 18, things are pretty cut and dry. …

Killing The Lies: What Is Forgiveness, Really?

This is the first in a series of blogs about forgiveness. For a rough overview of talking points I’ll be covering, check out my “preface” blog to this series: The Top 10 Most Prevalent Lies About Forgiveness. Besides personal experience, I will be basing many of my ideas on Matthew 18, specifically verses 21-35. If you aren’t familiar with the …

The Top 10 Most Prevalent Lies About Forgiveness

I consider myself an expert on forgiveness. Seriously, anyone over the age of 20 who isn’t festering in bitterness is probably an expert on forgiveness. But forgiveness is still hard. Especially when we’re confronted with issues such as domestic violence, adultery, lies, betrayal, or theft. It’s hard to forgive people, especially friends and family, for taking advantage of our trust in them.

National Poetry Month: First Poem, My Daughter

As you may have read in previous blog entries or seen on my Facebook page, April is National Poetry Month, and I am challenging myself to write one poem per day. Women: We were made for so much more than sex!

Pop Culture would have it that women are supposed to be sexual beings. And we are. But we were made for so much more! Among the six adults killed were Dawn Hochsprung, the school’s beloved principal, and school psychologist Mary Sherlach.” – CNN Words can’t express this level of tragedy … or depravity. In devastating times like these, it’s so easy to blame “guns,” “insanity,” “God,” …

Thanksgiving, Christmas, Black Friday, and Zombies

This was my first year hosting Thanksgiving at our house, and as such, it is also the first time I undertook the roasting of a turkey by myself. Of course, I’ve made chicken, pot roast, porch chops, and things like that before, but they don’t quite prepare one for pulling an 8 inch featherless neck out of the cold slimy …

How The World Looks From Here: Elowyn Lenore, Born August 26, 2012

BEFORE (August 25): I felt absolutely horrible, was very swollen (look at my face!!!), and in a good deal of pain the day before she was born. I had a feeling I was going to go into labor soon, so I painted my nails blue (my favorite color) and snapped one last picture of my low, low, belly. AFTER (August …
