Jason & Jennifer Interviewed by Vents Magazine on Orisonata Progressive Metal Album Release

Can you please introduce yourself and tell us more about Orisonata?
Jason: We’re a progressive metal project based in Houston. The band consists of just Jennifer and I, but we have been fortunate enough to have some very talented musicians contribute to the album. One of the things that really sets us apart is the implementation of classical saxophone, jazz piano, and classical guitar. Todd Oxford tours the world as a classical saxphonist, and Pamela York, who did are jazz piano work, has won a number of awards.

What´s the story behind the band´s name?
Jennifer: Well the word “orison” means prayer. We actually first heard it in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, when Hamlet says to Ophelia, “Nymph, in thy orisons be all my sins remembered.” Combine orison with sonata – which of course is a musical piece – and you’ve got Orisonata.
